Running between McEwen and the historic mining town of Sumpter, it’s a guarantee that the whole family will enjoy this relaxing trip back in time without having to leave the comfort of the present.

The Sumpter Valley Railroad is open weekends and major holidays, Memorial Day Weekend through the last weekend in September. Round trips take just over two hours, including layover. Check out our Schedules and Fares.

- Labor Day Weekend Schedule -

In conjunction with the Sumpter Flea Market, steam trains will be running on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, September 4-6, on the Major Holiday Weekend schedule.

Round Trips from McEwen

10:00 AM, 12:30 PM, and 3:00 PM

Round Trips from Sumpter

11:30 AM and 2:00 PM

One-Way only from Sumpter at 4:30 PM

- Engineer For a Day -

If you have ever wanted to operate a steam locomotive, this is your opportunity! The SVRR Engineer for a Day program allows you to actually operate a steam locomotive under the supervision of qualified SVRy personnel.

Participants will learn how to operate a locomotive in the McEwen yards, make up a freight train and take it out onto the main line. Learn more >
